Short notice concerts with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra

On September 16 and 17 Simone Lamsma will be giving 3 performances of Magnus Lindberg’s Violin Concerto with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra under conductor Dima Slobodeniouk, replacing the originally scheduled soloist Pekka Kuusisto.

The concerts will take place in the Ordway Center in Saint Paul, US, as follows:

Simone Lamsma becomes Associate of the Royal Academy of Music

Simone Lamsma has been appointed Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, and was awarded with an ARAM certificate on Monday 9 May 2011 during a special celebration. This honour is offered to past students of the Academy who have distinguished themselves in the music profession and made a significant contribution to their particular field.

Concert for HMH Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands Queens Day Concert 2011

Simone has been invited to perform during this year’s Queens Day Concert at Palace Noordeinde in The Hague. Jaap van Zweden will conduct the Radio Chamber Orchestra with Simone Lamsma as a soloist. On the programme are two works: the famous Violin Concerto in E minor by Felix Mendelssohn Bartoldy and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella.

The concert will take place in the presence of HMH Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands to celebrate the Queen’s birthday, and will be broadcast on national Dutch Television on Queens Day 30 April 2011.

‘Golden Violin’ prize for Simone Lamsma

On 27 January 2011, Simone will be awarded with the ‘Golden Violin’ Prize, a triennal prize given to a classical artist who has made outstanding contributions to the classical music scene of the Northern Netherlands. The prize will be officially awarded during a concert with the Northern Dutch Orchestra in Groningen, Netherlands, where Simone will be performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto.

IJ-salon with Emanuel Ax

Like last Saturday evening in Groningen, the IJ-salon concert for next Saturday in Amsterdam will include works by Locatelli, Feldman and Spohr. Special guest Emanuel Ax will join in to play Dvořák’s Quintet with Simone and members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Simone Lamsma wins Dutch VSCD Classical Music Prize

Last Saturday, during a concert in the Oosterpoort in Groningen (Netherlands), Simone was awarded with the National Dutch VSCD Classical Music Prize in the category ‘New Generation Musicians’. The prize is awarded by Association of Dutch Theaters and Concert Halls to artists who have made remarkable and valuable contributions to the Dutch classical music scene.

Elgar Violin Concerto

Exactly 100 years since the premiere of the work on 10 November 1910, given by Fritz Kreisler, Simone will perform the Elgar Violin Concerto in a special concert with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under David Hill at the Light House in Poole, UK.

The concert will be recorded by BBC Radio 3 for broadcast at a later date.

Simone Lamsma replaces Vadim Repin

On 18 April Simone Lamsma gave her Brazilian recital debut with pianist Valentina Lisitsa at very short notice, replacing Vadim Repin and Itamar Golan, who were the originally scheduled artists. The recital took place in the prestigious Sala Cecilia Mereiles in Rio de Janeiro, and received an overwhelming response from the audience.

In 2011 Simone will be returning to Brazil to perform in São Paulo with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra under Yan Pascal Tortelier.
